Okay... I won't be so presumptuous as to say I'm as frustrated as you, but I'll wager it's close. Like I said on Sunday, email me directly - music@venue.co.uk - and your gigs WILL be listed. And if you can bring yourself to buy it, take a look at the acts featured/reviewed and gigs/venues listed in the issue out tomorrow: case reopens. Failing that, at least have a nose at the one carrying your album review - I'll confirm a date when I'm back in the office, but expect it in two-three weeks.

Meantime, more importantly, hope you enjoy a splendid launch tomorrow eve.

Best wishes,

That's nice, Julian. Except that in spite of your comments I see my launch gig (of all things!) is STILL not listed in Venue this week. Case rests.

RESPONSE FROM JULIAN OWEN, MUSIC EDITOR, VENUE MAGAZINE:

"...as you're probably aware, print journalism isn't exactly the easiest place to be at the moment. I won't bore you with the substantial pay cuts (for those of us not made redundant), but cuts on the page mean that we can only run half the CD reviews we used to. And thus, what was already a fairly sizeable backlog grows still further. In turn, I'm left with a choice of sweeping the pile into the bin and starting afresh, or endeavouring to ensure that everything sent in is - even if belatedly - reviewed. I prefer the latter.

Slightly curious as to your comments about not being listed in the music diary... just take a look at the music diary in any week's issue, and see the range of venues listed - if anyone is gigging the BrisBath area, from Colston Hall to coffee shop, if we're told about it we'll list it.

I can assure you, I'd happily take 'shining a little light into the underground' as a job description. Check the issue in the shops at the moment for a feature about The Grapes in Clifton. See next week's for a gig tying into a Thunderbolt gig (not to mention reviews from The Junction, Priddy Folk Festival, and a classical night in Tewkesbury). I'm not saying we don't cover higher profile acts/venues, but they're not my main concern - they're there because I hope that 'bigger' names will attract casual readers onto pages where they can read about the local scene..."
